Here’s what we’ll do together
Life Transitions Therapy can help you move forward.
We will use many different techniques in our work together to help you develop the skills and coping techniques you need to move forward successfully in life. Life transitions, while difficult can provide new opportunities for growth and transformation. Processing these changes is important for moving forward and creating a fulfilling life. Ignoring or avoiding life transitions can lead to emotional baggage which can affect your mental health and future relationships. Working through these changes helps you to accept the situation and move forward with clarity and purpose. Life transitions counseling will help you gain insight and understanding of your reactions and behaviors. You may also benefit from an objective perspective and guidance for decision-making during these times.
One technique used in life transitions therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT helps you identify negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive and constructive ones.
Psychodynamic (talk) therapy is a more traditional therapy where we work together to understand your thoughts and feelings and how they are impacted by your past. We work to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your life experiences, which can help guide you through this life transition more easily. A safe and supportive environment helps you to navigate the adjustment process building greater coping skills and resilience along the way.
If you have experienced trauma during this transition, EMDR can be an invaluable technique. This method can help you reprocess and experience your life events differently and in a more adaptive manner.
Finally, mindfulness techniques are a practice that involves focusing on the present moment to help reduce anxiety and stress. This method can be useful in developing a sense of acceptance and resilience when facing difficult life changes.
My work is generally a multi-modal approach incorporating elements of each of these therapies to create a unique experience customized for your specific needs and strengths.
